Rebar accessories can be broken up into five different categories: rebar chairs, rebar post tension chairs, rebar clips, rebar cross clips and rebar swivel clips.Rebar clips are made of nylon and/or acetal and are generally used for binding rebar together to form a mesh so the clip binds or stands off the rebar and form sthe concrete wall/base. The old fashioned way of tying rebar was to use simple heavy duty wire but this method of tying rebar is detrimental to both speed, efficiency and health and safety issues. Rebar chairs are used to standoff the rebar and also to help structuralise the mesh whilst the concrete is poured ensuring a very solid end product. Instead of using rebar, rebar post tensioning chairs are used to old off tensioned wire once again providing great structural solidity. Rebar clips are used to consistently and efficiently secure rebar into grid or mesh ready for the concrete pouring. They can be applied using a shot applicator gun that really speeds up the rebar clip application time.
Not only that but this can also eliminate health and safety issues reducing back and arm problems for operatives. Up to 40 rebar clip units can be fitted per minute, really saving time. Cross Clips are most commonly used in cathodic protection building practise and the cross clip makes an excellent standoff for titanium strips when used in conjunction with cable ties. The cable ties are used to escure the titanium strip to the rebar clip and makes for very efficient protection. Cable ties and rebar cross clips are particularly used in enironments where static can cause safety issues. Cable ties and rebar cross clips are very quick and easy to apply by hand for the cable and the clip can be installed by hand using a light hammer. The rebar swivel clip is used where different size of rebar or different angular cross sections are required the rebar swivel clip fits to any angle and can be used in more complex concrete pouring processes.
